Inauguration

Governor-Elect Paul LePage’s Inauguration on the constitutionally-required date of Wednesday, January 5, 2011 will be an exciting day as we turn another page in Maine’s great history.

Attending the event will be members of the armed services, foreign dignitaries, elected officials from throughout Maine, Paul’s family and most importantly the hard working Maine people who helped elect Paul to this important office. As Paul said throughout the past year, “if it is to be, it is up to us,” as we work to move Maine forward in the years to come.

Inaugural Events
Wednesday, January 5

Augusta Civic Center:

Ceremony 11:30 AM
Reception 7:00–8:30 PM
In keeping with Governor-elect LePage’s wishes there will be no Inaugural Ball. With economic uncertainty and serious budget decisions ahead, we are holding a reception in its place where you can greet Paul while you enjoy the company of others on this special day. There will be appetizers and a cash bar at the Reception.

ATTENDING THE EVENTS
To attend you must receive an invitation and confirm your attendance. For security purposes and to ensure that we stay within capacity for the room we have sent mailed invitations. We have worked very hard to include as many people as possible on the mailed invitation list. If you do not receive an invitation by mail over the coming days you can email us here: ticketrequest@lepage2010.com and we will attempt to reach you should tickets become available.

You can also watch the Inaugural Ceremony live via television on your MPBN station, streaming on the web with a link we will provide here on Inauguration Day, or you listen live via radio on your local MPBN station. Also, MPBN is planning to re-air the Ceremony again in the evening at 8:00 PM on both television and radio.

SPECIAL AREA HOTEL / RESTAURANT OFFERS & AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES
Several area hotels and restaurants have offered special discounts for those attending the Inauguration.
To view those offers visit this link here: Hotel & Restaurant Offers
If you are looking for activities in the afternoon – other than checking into a hotel or enjoying one of the many area restaurants – we have several suggestions:

Visiting the State House. In our state capitol you can view the House and Senate Chambers as well as the other historic items located in the halls. This is an exciting time to visit and to reflect on the building’s history.
The Maine State Museum is a must if you have not visited. It is located right next to the Capitol building.
If you bring a young member of your family, you might want to visit the Children’s Discovery Museum.
Augusta is also home to the Maine Military Historical Society Museum near the Augusta airport and Camp Keyes. For your use, they are opening it on Inauguration day so you can learn about Maine’s military history.
Shopping. The Marketplace shopping center across from the Civic Center has restaurants and several large stores. The all-new Augusta Crossing shopping center just south at the next Augusta exit off I-95 features several additional stores. Nearby downtown Hallowell is filled with local shops. Also, Freeport with its many retail offerings is located only about 40 miles south of Augusta.
REPLY SYSTEM FOR MAILED INVITATIONS
If you received a mailed invitation at your home or business please use the RSVP links below to retrieve your reply confirmation for attendance.

For security purposes and to allow an accurate count of attendees, you will be required to present a ticket confirmation to be admitted to each event.

Below you will find two separate links to RSVP for each announced event on January 5. For each event’s RSVP page we are asking that you enter the RSVP number code found on the outside of your mailed envelope. Please note if you will be attending alone or if you will be bringing a guest. If you and your spouse both received an invitation, you need only RSVP one.

When you RSVP for each event separately you will be asked to print off a confirmation page similar to an airline boarding pass. We ask that you bring a printed copy of this special confirmation page with you to each event.

The cut-off date for RSVP responses has been set for Thursday, December 30th. PLEASE NOTE: it is possible that our available seats could get filled before that date and if so we will need to suspend replies. It is also possible that we may be able to extend the date beyond that date if seats are still available.

To find your reply code on your mailing envelope, use this guide here: reply code sample
If you do not have internet access or if have any questions please do not hesitate to call the transition office at 207-877-7616. One of our fantastic volunteers or a staff member will try to assist you.

REMINDER: YOU WILL NEED YOUR REPLY CODE FROM THE FRONT OF YOUR INVITATION ENVELOPE JUST ABOVE YOUR NAME TO RSVP BELOW.
Replies with incorrect codes may not be honored.
